I just wanted to share a few things that caught my attention recently. I hope you’ll find them enjoyable!
- Chasing Happiness: This is a documentary about the Jonas Brothers. Prior to this documentary, I knew very little about them. I knew one married Prinyaka Copra and that they were tween heart throbs back in the day. The documentary talked about their rise and their fall. The most compelling parts are when the brothers talk honestly about how their relationship with each other was impacted and the slow road back together.
- I.M: A memoir : I loved the audio version of this book as it’s read by the author, Isaac Mizrahi. This books tells the fascinating story of Isaac’s early passion and aptitude for style/fashion, his love for performing and his time in the fashion world. He speaks so eloquently about the shifts we all have in life when one thing is finished and we move onward to the next. I can’t recommend it enough.
- Is There Anything We Can All Agree On? Yes: Dolly Parton. Last year, I rediscovered Dolly Parton and became a huge fan. I read two of her books: Dream More and Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business. She sucked me in with her authenticity, positivity, generosity and work ethic. Both of her books were so uplifting and I can’t recommend them enough. However, the featured article here is talking about two new projects where Dolly is at the center: a podcast (Dolly Parton’s America) and new Netflix series (Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings). I haven’t consumed either yet, but the linked article highlights them both and explores why Dolly may have such lasting celebrity. I don’t know if I necessarily agree with the conclusion but I hope that Dolly continue to capture the hearts of the younger generations. There’s a lot to learn from her.
